Should I know who this person is? Is he a parent or well-known in the community? Please tell me more. I have not heard of him.
Not necessarily. He's a young man, maybe 22, 24, who has lived in Alexandria his entire life. He stopped by my house in my condo complex to get signatures to get on the school board ballot. Nice guy. Said he was previously a part of Simpson-Baird's campaign for school board. I spoke with him for a bit detailing my daughter's experiences at JH, and her current experience at GW.
I’ve already heard at least 2 “concerned citizens” say he’s inappropriate because he doesn’t have kids in ACPS, even though he was a kid in ACPS very recently.
Don't half the school board's kids go private? Wasn't he last superintendent rightfully blasted for sending his own kids to private?
You dont have to have kids in ACPS to be a productive school board member, and insisting that you do only narrows down and already narrow pool.
Eh. There are many of us that think with all the issues in ACPS it would be better for our leaders to actually have kids in the system. It’s kind of insane actually - you don’t believe in the public schools enough to have your own kids enrolled? It is damn upsetting.
