Day 20. Ovulated day 15 and my weight is back to “normal”. But it still ends if being such a small loss over the weeks.

I am not sure why you think OP Isn't losing weight.

She was 150 after her period on month 1, 148 after period month 2 and 145 after period on month 3. She has lost 5 lbs.

The higher numbers are fluctuations and totally normal. Period or not weight fluctuates and the downward trend is what matters. Weight loss is not a straight line. Even weight maintenance is nota straight line where you weight the same every single day.

Because 5 lbs is not good enough to consider it a weight loss. She can be back at 150 in a day.

+1 same boat here!

For my body, the most accurate reading is day 4 of my cycle each month.

I’m losing each month, but I can’t get a read on it, except for that monthly weigh in.

I think day 9/10 work best for me and I think now I need to wait again until day 18-20 after ovulation has passed. I am so annoyed that I had a great week and only saw the weight go up.

I never fluctuate more than 2 lbs day to day, maybe 3 max over a several days/weeks in 1 pound increments

🙄. Please stop informing people their bodies are “extreme” because yours, your only data point, doesn’t do the same.

OP, frustrating but within the realm of normal. If you wanted to, you could research what you are consuming that likely adds to water retaining tendencies around your period.

8 lbs water weight gain on someone 145 is extreme. Look at your diet

I’m deep in the middle of a weight loss journey. Every month I’m losing around 5lb. It cycles like this: After my period, I drop around 3lb, then for a couple weeks, about .5-1 a week. Then my period comes and I’m back up 5lb. It’s so frustrating! But then the cycle repeats. So it’s like this:

150lb after period
148 right before PMS starts
153 during period
Back to 148 after period
145 right before PMS starts
150 during period
Back to 145 after period

It’s like my only real weight loss occurs after my period every month, and it’s super frustrating! Anyone else?

As long as there is net weight loss that is totally normal. I’m guessing you are not that overweight, so losing a net of 5 lb a month is really great. Nothing to be frustrated about!

OP, how are sleep and stress?

Do you take any meds that impact glucose or insulin? Google. Common ones that do include bp meds, bcp, mood or anxiety meds, statins, allergy meds including Flonase and steroids. Ask your doctor about alternatives.

Try adding in a 15 minute walk after meals, it can really help manage glucose and insulin in ways 1 longer walk does not. Do you snack? Sip milky coffee all day? For me, 2 full meals with no snacks works best both for weight loss and maintenance.

OP, I'd consider weighing once a month, after your cycle ends and using measurements, photos and how clothes fit in between since the scale is so demotivating to you. Also, consider lifestyle changes rather than a "diet" mentality.

In mid-life I found layering in intermittent fasting to be very useful. Flex @ cycle there too.

Once you are in menopause, it's my understanding weight loss is harder all the time, so, could be worse.

You are not losing any weight, I'm not sure why you think you are losing weight.

I'm 42 and I am bloated and up during my period AND during ovulation now.

I get about 10 days per month where my stomach is pretty flat (5'7, 139-143ish) and no matter what I eat or what I do nothing changes. Cut alcohol? My face looks better, body doesn't change. Cut back on sugar? Maybe more energy, but no weight change. More protein? Less hungry, no weight change. I am coming to accept that I need to rely on how I feel and get clothes that fit instead of strive for the unattainable.
