Paul Riley - looks like he is at Kiss Salon..not saying that he is the only one who can do it, but he was very nice/approachable and could be a good way to try it. I saw him back when the sport and health in Tenleytown had a spa (!) and he was the stylist in their salon space. After that he was at Izzy in Georgetown for a long time. Anyway, he steered me to it, while I do notice most stylists seem to prefer permanent color.

I saw Paul (was at Salon Izzy) for successful semi /demi . Looked glossy and gorgeous. If fades more quickly than permanent (mine lasted about 2 1/2 weeks). But my hair grows quickly so even with permanent the grays would have been popping by then..In agree it was much gentler.

No, in my experience. Gray hair is resistant to color and I only get good coverage from permanent color.
