The SOL is not important in MS. The kids don't have to pass them so there is no need for kids to stress about them.

Well, no, the math one is for a verified credit for high school. My son is taking the Algebra one.

He’s still going to have to take a math SOL later. One of them has to be taken IN high school, even if he passes the 8th grade algebra one. So it’ll be geometry next year.

I believe the rule is that they have to sit a math SOL in HS but they don’t have to pass it. They have the verified pass with Algebra 1. It is a stupid rule either way. If they have to pass one in HS and it has to be in HS then I’ll opt my kid out of Algebra 1 and geometry SOLs because they are a waste of time. He can read a book and relax during that time. He can take one freshman year of HS.

And technically they don’t even have to sit for it in HS if you refuse. That’s a Federal participation requirement that has zero impact on the student, only the school. I verified this with the testing coordinator at DCs school. A verified credit earned in MS is enough for graduation.

No work should not be given. Everyone should hold hands and sing “koom by ya.”

Honestly, if your child is taking Algebra in MS they should be able to pass the SOL without stressing. They are ahead in math and should only be there because they are good at math.

at ES you have the right to saY NO NO MORE WORK!!!

You have the right to ban homework you also have the right to tell them to stop giving work. NO PROECTS. just give them 3's and 4's

Is this sarcasm? What do you want them to do for the next few weeks?

You can't be serious.

You think parents have the right to tell teachers to stop giving students work to do? What do you expect them to do for a month?

I was told in the context of 3rd grade and trying to get me to get my child to retake that nothing new is being taught as they had to teach it all before the SOL.
