What city is this? I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world and I know 0 people with 55/hr nannies.
Nanny here - I live in LA and charge $40-45/hr. I’m guessing op is a NCS (aka baby nurse) who now works as a nanny, in the Bay Area.

And background info that may be helpful - I typically work 50 hours a week. The child sleeps 12 hours a night but will likely wake up 1-2 times a night. And they chose to have the child sleep with me versus with themselves. (Which would have greatly reduced my hours).

I wouldn’t charge OT fii out r that time period, but if they’re choosing to have the child room with you, make sure that they know that you will be paid $55/hour for every hour that the child is with you (whether parents are there or not). Top end would gross at ~$18k, but you definitely don’t want to discount your hourly rate.

OP is hired to be on call 24/7. She is sharing room with child. She charged her full rate and should charge OT for all hours over 8 per day. If they can't afford her then they can take care of their own child. As unoted earlier, this is not a vacation for OP. Nannies perform a difficult job and what it cost the parents is not her problem. She should be paid in full for every minute on the clock.

I'm finding it hard to believe a $55/hr rate for one child unless you're working for multi-millionaires.
Anyways, I'd charge half that rate so $27/hr for all hours.

When traveling with the fam i charge a flat fee of $150 per day that I’m away from home, plus my regular rate of $35 hourly and 1.5x for any extra hours worked-fam pays all, meals, hotel, all expenses.
