We had the same experience. Also our son has ADHD but is pretty well behaved in class and he felt that the peer group was pretty unruly. We ended up not applying but we have two friends with kids there that said it was game changer for their kids

Whole grade sizes in middle and high school range from 50 to 60 kids per grade. The actual class sizes are smaller. DC is in middle school and class sizes range from 9 to 12. They split them up by ability so if student is high performing in maths you are placed with kids at the same level. So you can be in high performing maths and lower performing reading for example. DC loves it there. We were initially worried about cohorts because DC does not need much support but there is really a wide range of kids and DC had no problem finding friends with similar interests.

I went on a visitors' day because I had a family member in a very young grade. There were two teachers for a small number of kids. The kids had hearing aids, thick glasses, spasms, and various disabilities. It seemed like a tolerant, accepting, and nurturing environment.

I think college placements are about what you would expect for a very neurodiverse and very expensive school. Some kids end up at colleges that are very focused on students with learning differences, others end up at totally mainstream schools. Probably disproportionately smaller liberal arts colleges. I’m assuming you’re not asking how it compares to other DC area privates?

How is college placement? We’re looking for an environment that offers extra support but sets our DC up for success as he’s got potential.
