There are little silicone caps, Soft Paws, you can glue onto trimmed cat claws. They last a few weeks before they start growing out and need to be replaced. That will eliminate the destruction and skin scratches. Also, cats tend to dislike the feel of aluminum foil and double-sided tape. You can cover the corners of furniture in either to discourage scratching. After a period of weeks with consistent deference, the behavior often abates.

Make sure the kitten is getting plenty of play and physical activity. You might try toys and/or a running wheel.

Just be aware that it can take some time for cats to get used to one another. It took our oldest cat about two weeks to adjust to having the second cat, and about a month to adjust to the third. There was quite a bit of hissing in this period.
