Someone posted the most stunning pictures last night from McAfee Knob along the Appalachian Trail, down near Va Tech. Just gorgeous.

Came here looking for this info! Here's what I see in the Post:

If the aurora don’t make it this far south or it turns out cloudy Saturday night, Sunday night might present a better opportunity, The Space Weather Prediction Center is now predicting periods of level 4 or 5 storm activity. Cloud cover should be much reduced Sunday night, too. Stay tuned!

For tomorrow night, where would be a decent place not too far from Bethesda area?

Stupid swamp. I feel like everyone else in the country saw it. There's a fat line of clouds coming and 30% chance of rain tomorrow night too but I hope it clears out.

Drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway
Photos flooded social media starting about 10 p.m., with the aurora seen as close to Northern Virginia as Front Royal and Shenandoah National Park

I hate to break it to you, but it will probably be cloudy tonight too.

Living here is the DC area we always seem to lose out on everything.

They were gorgeous, we are out in Central Virginia. The shift from pink to purple to green was so vibrant. Saw them starting around 10:00pm.

Only because the utilities have been deregulated and capitalists have refused to put any money into protecting our infrastructure. Dirty dirty capitalists.

So funny/creepy/coincidental that it was written in 2021 and they put tomorrow's date on the hypothetical scenario.

Tonight too, supposedly.
Also, your phone sees them better than your eyes, so try taking a pic.

Anyone know if the lights can be viewed tonight as well?
