It is fine OP! Is it an optimal choice? Maybe not. If it keeps you from eating something like a typical dessert then yes, drink and enjoy. I have 1 or 2 a week as a treat from my normal sparkling water.

This is interesting.

OP why would you want to drink those chemicals?

Bunch of theories out there - how Diet Coke and other get their “0” calorie rating from FDA has many published reports on it.

The big bad guy for weight loss is high fructose corn syrup. It has many conspiracies and theories behind why it is allowed and subsidized - but our bodies have no idea what it is and turn it into fat or worse.

Wow. I drink one a day, it is literally my only vice. Surprised people see this as such a big deal. I know diet soda isn't great for me, but I have a stressful life (disabled child, challenging job), and my daily can of soda is my guilty pleasure.

If I have the occasional diet coke will that work against my weigh loss goals?

No. It won't. Occasional is the key. I drink maybe one or tow a week and it has absolutely no impact on my weight (I'm not trying to lose but maintain).

I drink 14 a week and it has no effect on my weight asbr hasn’t for the past 30 years. Healthy bloodwork, weight, blood pressure, etc

I don't even like Diet Coke, but if I knew you IRL, I'd drink it around you for the purpose of enraging you, and I think that's a great reason.

Wow, I think two responses I posted in this thread (stating that I "still" drink soda and do not think it is any *more* unhealthy than coffee or alcohol, though not stating that soda is healthy) were reported and deleted.

The soda vigilantes are really out in force this time.

Enjoyment. Enjoyment is the reason some of us like diet coke. Do you all *NEVER* eat or drink anything that isn't 100% healthy? You never eat a cookie, have a glass of wine? Are you all out here living District 13 lives where you calculate calories down to the last one and don't eat anything not required to sustain life?

No? Oh wait, you only treat fat people like that. Got it.

Because it's delicious and the caffeine perks me up.

Wrong. It tasts awful. You drink it because you are addicted.

This is such a wild response. It tastes awful *to you*

People who drink diet soda don't have the will power (or drug power) to Just Say No to food and drink they want to avoid. That means that they can't say No to caloric foods, which don't have 0-cal substitutes, either. Correlation, not causation.

You shouldn't drink anything besides water. Coffee is OK, but not all of the frappucino crap. Anything from a bottle is pretty much a no go for both health and weight loss.
