OP-Is this by CHOICE? Or are there other choices of classes that are in person. I guess another way to phrase this is"Are online classes forced upon at UTK"?

Are you aware the class is online only when you register? Are there ways to filter for in-person only or hybrid with the option to always attend in-person?

VT and GM both do this.

It is a leftover from covid, unfortunately

Do what? Online only? Hybrid? Do you know it’s online when you register and can opt for a hybrid or in person?

My friend’s daughter this year only had one in person class for her senior year at WVU - she was thrilled; parents paying the tuition not so thrilled. Two of the classes she could have done an in person class - she chose virtual. The other 7 were virtual only.

Other parents were commenting that at the public universities there are still a lot of virtual classes- and kids are just zooming in from dorm rooms.

Online classes should be significantly discounted.

My friend's daughter in an exercise science/pre-health major at U Delaware had the same issue. She's about to graduate and has had a mixture of virtual and in-person classes every year.

You're not paying for the lectures. You're paying for the campus experience.

Then it’s a good reason not to apply to VT or others who do this. I am not paying college tuition for online courses.

This is why publics aren't the utopia that many on DCUM believe. You get what you pay for.
