Many Mexican restaurants throw in a free bag of chips with to-go orders. Being stingy with salsa always pisses me off.

Aren’t sour cream and guac more expensive sides? If I didn’t want those with our food, how difficult is it sub them for lots of salsa. Nickel and diming people for salsa and pennies worth of chips — you literally give away for free — feels petty.

Well you can use your nickles and dimes to pay for the chips and salsa.

If you had eaten the chips and salsa before you meal, you may have then ordered more drinks and may have not ordered that extra appetizer or side. Restaurants have a purpose for giving the chips and salsa before the mean, you had a strategy for asking for it after the meal.

The last time I checked, chips were non-temperature controled, non-hazardous. We're all good for reuse! :D

I thought it was just because it’s cheap and families enjoy it, so you’re more likely to enjoy your experience and return? I don’t see anyone getting hammered at family friendly Mexican restaurants.
