PP here, yes the latter is what I’m saying. IB families not enrolling in the school and declined the seats available for them. I have not heard of any increase in class sizes.

Current hardy parent here. I am hearing that the 8th grade is splitting pretty much 50/50 to MacArthur/J-R. That means about 100 kids to McA and another 100 seats to be made available via lottery (with a significant portion coming from Deal if my anecdotal knowledge is accurate). For a school in its second year that feels about right. We are a 7th grade family planning for MacArthur and are excited.

Yea interesting that Takoma has low waitlist for prek4 when they do combined PreK3 and 4 classroom. And we’re in the 30s on the waitlist for Takoma PreK3.

Takoma has 7 PK classrooms, only one is combined pk3/4. The rest are either PK3 or PK4.

I'm the PP also on Takoma's PK3 list. no movement on our number all week. I know they make offers until October, so we have 5 months.. I just hate not feeling optimistic about it. We really liked the school when we saw it.

FYI- there were 5 or 6 more students in preK-3 accepted for early access than there were spots offered so preK- 3 is starting overenrolled. People still can decline as they get in elsewhere but think about it like you need to add 5-6 to your waitlist number.

It’s crazy how many offers they made last year in PK3 and this year they may not be able to make any.

Why? What’s going on there? Good for Takoma.
