State Dept will ask her to maintain a consistent story with what she said in Russian courts in order to protect future American detainees who get arrested in Russia. Two Americans - including an active duty US military soldier - were detained this week.
So no, we will never know the truth about her detainment. I've always believed the Russian government planted it because they knew a wealthy black lesbian athlete would be the perfect foil for stoking the culture wars in the U.S. (and the Russians succeeded).
The guys in T&C will get to leave after a few months of detainment and a massive fine. T&C government is more reliable than Russia.
