I’m on the club board and our team rep also says that team registration has been slow, and lower at this point than recent years. Overall, new club memberships are also down compared to recent years.
Our team rep is elected to the board. I don’t ever recall much drama. It’s pretty smooth.
I know a few people not doing summer swim this year because of RTO. Kind of a bummer.
RTO?
All I can think of is relay take-off.
I’m assuming pp means return to office

Our board rep is the swim team rep. They changed the bylaws so no one gets a choice or to vote.
You don’t vote for your pool board?
Nope, the president self-elects every year, cherry-picks the nomination committee (though this year they didn't even have one), and then chooses themself as team rep. Others of us have offered.

Better than yours by the sound of it! What’s been the issue?
Internal squabbling amongst our board resulting in constantly shifting guidelines and micro-management 🙄
Don’t you have some sort of representation on the board? Have you expressed your concerns to them? Theres a fine line between micromanaging and doing their job. Arguably the one volunteer position more stressful than team rep is board member.

Anonymous wrote:Our board president is on a massive power trip and making everyone miserable. He’s outright threatened one of our swim reps because he wasn’t getting his way. The dive rep has already quit. Our board rep is just trying to hold it together. Unfortunately because our members never bother to vote, we always end up with the same people even when others volunteer.

You must be talking about me, by all means please take over.
