Exactly. Thank you for the word of grace. Graduating kid was Covid HS grad (younger bro couldn’t go) and graduate is moving a plane ride away to start his job in June, so yes, this is a big deal for his younger brother, who really wants to be there for his brother. He doesn’t think he’s going to do well on AP Physics II anyway, but I’ll think about this overnight and call the College Board as someone suggested.

Why didn't you call and handle this if it was such a big deal? Younger son can visit his brother over the summer. They don't need to go to graduation.

make up exams are in two weeks. my son broke his arm and got the make up date. just have him call in sick.

HS kid stays home and takes test or coordinates doing a makeup. Don’t make him go to graduation and take test there- hard no to that.

OP, let your child decide if they want to skip the AP exam or attend the graduation, assuming the school allows kids to skip AP tests (the AP tests are required at my DC’s school). My high school student is missing his sister’s college graduation because it is the review day for finals. There is just no way DC will do well skipping school right before finals. Sister’s graduation is on a Thursday, which is sort of annoying. We are having a “family” celebration the following weekend by going to nice dinner here in DC. One sibling will attend the graduation since they will be done with college for the semester and home for the summer.

Agree.
My youngest will be missing his older brother's graduation next weekend because of AP testing the following week.

There are AP test makeup dates. I believe they start in two weeks.

Why don’t you ask about sitting on a makeup date.

You just don't realize how badly high school staff is stretched thin. You should have called College Board as soon as you knew, because they know the procedure. The AP coordinator might not have jurisdiction over another state's AP exam locations, and it won't be a priority for them to help your kid with this when they have other pressing concerns. Your kid may have dropped the ball, but it wasn't a good plan to begin with. Next time you want something important changed regarding your high schooler, deal with it yourself. High school kids and high school staff need hectoring.
