They did that at GM when they added the cafeteria about 10 or 15 years ago. It's basically a really nice food storage/warming spot.

So is the plan to cook it at King St. and bring it over to be stored? My son exclusively brings food from home due to a dietary issue, but I am sure that quite a few kids at ACHS rely on the school meals.

If the rest of things are any indication, there is no plan. They seem to be waiting until the last minute to determine many very fundamental things about this new building.

There is no "cooking" at any of the schools (except for the culinary classes). All hot meals are reheated factory produced meals. I'm assuming that is the case for most public schools in the country.

Don’t many student eat off campus for lunch?

I'm not sure if it is different for upper classmen, but my son definitely does not have the option to leave campus as a freshman. He can't even go to King St. for his one class there except via a bus provided by the school, and if he misses it, he is not allowed to walk and must spend the period in the Minnie auditorium.

That is ridiculous.

I did not know this! I have a graduating senior that was virtual freshman year. I thought kids could walk!

That sounds ridiculous. I’m so sorry. Next year there is sure to be lots of going between campuses and walking should be allowed. What.a.mess.

I’ll take any kind of food service… it would be an improvement over Hammond running out of food entirely.

Ohhh… so it sounds like food will still be provided there, just not “made” or cooked there.

Don’t many student eat off campus for lunch? Maybe with the new MH cafe, there will be a new “closed campus” policy.

I'm sickened that he posted a photo of a bathroom. Especially considering what he responded when the School Board Chair informed him of the (alleged) gang rape in a MH bathroom.

Maybe it’s one of the new gender neutral bathrooms with floor to ceiling partitions that schools are building, and he wanted to show it off. Schools districts for better or worse are taking pictures of those bathrooms to introduce the public to them.

They will be bringing meals in to reheat but no full kitchen from what I understand.

Scattered dining areas.

Finally a regulation pool in the City! The high school team can finally host meets which is great. Yes, it will be open to the public at certain hours.

Stinks about parking. And no auditorium.
