Reviving this thread to report back on my flights with Play. Absolutely no issues with luggage (both checking and carry on). Nobody measured or asked us to put any bags in the bins to check size at either BWI or Keflavik. Seats hurt my butt, but I expect that from all airlines. I was expecting minimal leg room, but it was the same as every other airline. We all had plenty of room. I’d fly them again.

Yeah. I've heard from others that checked luggage can be an issue. I've flown with Play Airlines a number of times and I have NEVER checked luggage (for several reasons) and never had an issue. Every flight I've been on, they honestly were very generous with the carry-on luggage allowed and weren't weighing or measuring it.

To me it was nearly all self service. So new to it. I don't think we interacted with more than 1 PLAY staff at the airport other than the flight crew.

There are definitely differences, which you especially notice if it's a long overnight flight. There are some planes where the seats are particularly hard, with thin plastic armrests, and limited leg room.


Also the standard seat pitch on Play is 29-30 inches, whereas mainline long haul economy is 31-32 inches. Can be significant depending on your height

So we got from Iad to Paris on time. So overall it was a positive experience. But I don't think we will fly them again. We ended up upgrading seats on way back. The seats without an upgrade were the worst I've ever had. I honestly don't know how anyone over 5'5" could fit in them. We didn't sleep at all. They also kept the lights on for most of the red eye flight. Odd.
It's a good budget option. I'm just too old for it at this point.


I've always had a positive experience with play airlines, but I'm only 5 ft. lol so that may be part of it! I do dislike that they keep the lights on most of the flight dc-iceland. I pack a light-blocking eye mask and it's fine The price savings are almost always so significant for my family that it makes it worth it and we are short lol.
