what does it matter what you want? You should buy what they want. So ask them or their Mom what they want if not buying cash or gift card and give them that

Just give cash. Really. If you must, add flowers or a bottle of champagne. Cash is what they need.

Otherwise a journal, pen, and Kate spade lunch bag would be about 75

I love it - how abuot something 3-4 times your budget?
(Sorry, I can't resist!)

For a high school kid I didn’t know (and before I knew cash was better), I didn’t a bag of random things he would need for college but wouldn’t be particular about - poster tape, scissors, mini toolkit, tape, first aid kit, etc.

Now, I always do cash/Target gift card. Or, for a college graduate, sometimes a coffee shop gift card in their new town. Don’t go off script and try to buy something else on your own. Just a waste for you and the recipient.

You gave someone a case of toilet paper? WTF. I guarantee you that was not appreciated. Made fun of? Sure but you’re delusional if you think this is what a college grad wants.

PP said it was a gift they appreciated, so presumably it was given to them.

If someone gave me any of your gifts particularly toilet paper, soap or vegetables I would think you think I am homeless.

Do not buy jeqelry or gas gift cards! Good grief!
