It may be . . .but be careful of the 600-900 community college transfers (the guaranteed program) that enter in third year. You don't want to compete with that bunch. The two instances I know of students who really wanted UVA but didn't get in so went elsewhere transferred in after their first year at another college (but, FWIW, they did REALLY WELL at those institutions so had a good record and argument about being accepted). I wouldn't wait to transfer in for third year because of the guaranteed admission program from the community colleges.

A dear friend of mine didn't get into UVA the first year. She went somewhere else but immediately filed the transfer papers when allowed and did get in so started second year there. Loved it; never looked back

Isn’t that only for students who applied to UVA and were offered the Wise campus for freshman year? I’m not sure the automatic transfer is valid is you just apply directly to Wise.
