??
What? For a play date? You get my house as is.
For dinner guests or adult guests, you get a 30 min clean up. Max.
For a party or something you’ll get more but that’s rare.
Who are these people frantically cleaning before play dates? In my neighborhood it’s “oh lemme slide that clean laundry over so you can fit on the couch” and “sorry there’s toys everywhere it’s been a day.”

We clean a lot for guests. Our house isn’t dirty but we have too much clutter. We entertain a lot so it’s gotten easier over time!

I dont deep clean before guests. Just vaccum, wipe, and tidy. Takes 30 minutes.

This. Best to keep on top of things.
Otherwise, meet at a playground?

Unfortunately, I need it to look show ready if anyone comes in. I get that no one is judging or whatever but I always did unconsciously when I went to my friends homes growing up. It’s not purposefully but instinctively. I still remember a bathroom where the silver from the sink handle was sparkling and there was not a speak on the mirror.

How dirty is your house? This isn’t normal. I can have our house guest ready in about 10-15 minutes and I’m not going to pass out.

Don’t waste your time and sanity. It’s all fake anyways. Just look at the number of people who spend hours cleaning just to give the impression that they always live like that. Nobody wants to be friends with judgmental people anyways so don’t worry about it.

We do clean before and I plan for 1-2 hours. The kids help. We have biweekly cleaning service.

We pick up before company arrives and surfaces and bathrooms are always neat. But I don’t do any deep cleaning.

Playdate vs a few couples for dinner requires different cleaning effort. #1: Clean the powder room (counter, toilet and fresh towels). Pile up the paperwork (incoming mail, bills, and school paperwork) so it’s not all over the kitchen countertop. If you are feeling fancy, light a candle.

I do the same. It’s also the only time I go into the kids disgusting bathroom and clean it. But yeah, I like it to look good.

Have more guest dates so you clean more often. Train your kids to help.
