Do you have kids? I never did pre-kids. Now "someone pop out to get food" feels like a big deal with schedules and wrangling the other kids at home.

Me too. I’d rather order another dish than pay the fee and tip for a delivery service.

I also like to dine in so the food is hot and fresh.

For meals: used once, and never again. It was cold and they got our order wrong. I always pick up my orders - it's cheaper and we get the food hot.

Groceries: we had food delivered from Whole Foods during the lockdown. It was great, except that my husband prefers picking his own produce. So we went back to doing our own grocery shopping.

Its convenient, you just have to be willing to pay a pretty decent markup.

I’ve only done it when I’ve gotten GCs for them. Otherwise, the fees are way too high.

I have used Instacart on occasion when I was sick and when my kid was a baby, especially when my DH was out of town. It's great for that. I would never use it as my regular grocery run. Partly because who wants to pay all those fees to do something that most of us have been doing ourselves for our whole lives -- it is really not that hard to go pick up groceries on a Saturday morning or on my way home from work or school pickup during the week. And partly because I don't trust Instacart to select my meat or produce, or make appropriate substitutions if the store is out of what I request.

We've never done Doordash or Ubereats or whatever. We live in an area where it's easy to just go pick up takeout on foot, and we get the food faster (and it's hotter, and we can check to make sure the order is right) without having to spend twice as much to get it. Even if we lived somewhere where this stuff was further away, I think we'd just hop in the car and get it. It really doesn't bother me to do this.

If you are relying on this stuff regularly, you either have a much more demanding job or life than I do or you're a shut in.

We've looked into them at all at various times (mostly in the beginning of the pandemic) and were shocked at the markups (on top of the delivery fee, which we expected.) We live in a relatively convenient area so one of us just runs out and picks up if we need or want anything and otherwise we make do with what's at home.

Yeah, I remember going to order and getting sticker shock and saying "to hell with this."

I've probably used it 5 times or less, and those times were when I was sick and desperately wanted a won ton soup or something.

Same here. Never used them.

Someone sent me a gift card for DoorDash when my kids were born so I got an account. I use it maybe twice a year? Can’t really justify the expense except as a special treat.

I use instacart for Costco once every 4-6 weeks

Worth the $$ to never have to deal with the geniuses who stop mid-aisle and hang out, who bring their entire family for a fun outing, and to never, ever have to use their parking lot again.

Have never used any of the others you mentioned
