You can talk to him and/or the technical director but don’t expect anything to change. The coach will make up all kinds of excuses. Ask another club to attend practice and tryouts. We were in this situation years ago and leaving the team was the best thing we did. She made even better friends at the new club. The team was better too.

Life is too short and it’s your money to tolerate such a bad environment.

I agree. Valor will be worse than where you are. Valor sucks!

Former syc player too. Same story.

We moved my son from his team because the coach was toxic. It was hard for my son at first but kids are resilient. He made new friends and is enjoying playing again and has a coach that supports him. He still stays in contact with this old teammates  and who knows they might be on the same team again.

Well, at least it’s tryout season, I’d look up tryout dates for other clubs, a few of them have passed but I know there’s a lot in May. Before ruling out clubs as too far, find out exactly where practice fields are and their parking situations. Carpooling is common, and I know of a few semi-distant families who were able to make it work cause they realized practices were very close to their office (or in two cases, _an_ office) for example.

This is like being in an abusive relationship. You know you should leave but too scared to leave.

Do yourself a favor and leave. It doesn't get better.

We had a situation with the coach, spoke to leadership about it and nothing was done. Leaving the club was the best decision.

This is with SYC which we all know is a circus.

Move. I wish I had done it earlier. Coach ruined kids love of soccer.

My kid was on a team like this. All the coach cared about was winning games. Zero craps about developing players. My kid was the top player on the team and would regularly guest play up, but when it came time for tryouts the coach tried everything to keep my kid on the same team instead of helping my kid develop and move up. I ended up emailing the age director asking for a meeting. Afterward, my kid was moved up.

It's a horrible feeling as a parent because there's not much you can do. Also, it's not easy to just move clubs. Not everyone is able to drive 30-45 minutes one way to practices three times a week. For many the local club is the only option.

OP, if you have issues speak with the age director or someone above the coach about your concerns. If presented in a professional manner you should get some type of response. Good luck.
