When the oldest one asked I told her in front of the other kids how unhealthy gel and acrylic are for nails and that none of them could have it. None of them have asked since.

No, they are not. If you don't wash your hands like you're supposed to, it's a hygiene issue regardless of how long your nails are.

You just don't like long nails, which is fine. Don't have long nails.

Did this get popular when Billie Eilish was on the rise? She is the only big-name celebrity I can think of who makes it a big part of her look. That said, the tattoo craze among people in my generation and 10 years younger is so much worse than the nails. If tats are on the downswing being replaced by the tacky nails, I'm okay with it.

JFC, my kid is busy and a 2 sport athlete and likes her nails done occasionally. Being busy has no bearing on a kid wanting their nails done.
