Just thought I’d check in with OP and the others on this thread to see how things are going? I was delighted to see a number starting with a 1 on the scale this morning! I’m down 13 pounds in the last 2 months so I’m feeling pretty happy about that. It hasn’t translated to a smaller size yet, but my clothes are feeling a little looser. BMI is down to 28.7.

Good job, OP and others! You’re all inspiring to get back to regular exercise (I have two preschoolers so I should… but haven’t…)

I am so envious, I can't wait to be overweight!

Only 40 lbs to go!

Congrats, OP! That is awesome progress. Your friend is dense, jealous or a jerk. 27 lbs is a huge accomplishment. Come back and update this thread so we can congratulate you on your next win

I was always on the border of overweight/normal BMI before having kids but once I had my second child I never lost the weight and stayed for the most part obese. I am 53 now with teens so it has been a while that I have been obese. About 16 months ago I really started working on making small changes with a goal of not to be obese. I have lost almost 2 pounds a month, so in total so far I have lost 27 pounds. I am really pleased because it is just so much easier to move and be motivated to go outside and garden or take a walk or just be more active. My ultimate goal is to lose another 27 pounds which will put me finally back to an average BMI. I told a friend how pleased I was and she really didn't get why I was so pleased. Anyone else celebrating making it into the overweight BMI category?

I have eons to go before I hit merely “overweight” but dang I bet it’s exciting! People who have never been large don’t know how nice it feels to not be as large. Good job!

I can definitely relate! Congratulations and I’m glad you’re feeling better and able to be more active too!

Good job OP! I’ll be excited when I get there (6 pounds to go), but will be too embarrassed to tell anyone. I’m also not interested in staying in the overweight category, so it’s really just a start. I’ve lost 6 pounds so far (in 3 months) and it’s been way more difficult than I imagined.

Huge milestone OP! I remember when I hit this myself. Now I’m doing things I never conceived would have ever been possible. Good luck on your continued journey!

I absolutely get it, OP. I was thrilled to hit the “just” overweight category after years of being obese. I, too, am aiming for a normal/healthy BMI, but taking a moment to celebrate the milestones along the way is important. Congratulations!

Congrats, OP! I fully understand how good it can feel! I also went down from obese to overweight a few weeks ago after loosing 30 pounds over a year at 55. So happy and proud! I am now at 27.9 BMI. Still a long way to go until normal weight range, but every week I am making progress! Cheers to all of us trying to improve our health.

Thank you for sharing op. I find your story inspirational. I went into surgical menopause right before Covid and ended up gaining nearly 40 pounds over the last few years. I’m just starting to work on it and it really helps to hear success stories from women my age. Thank you.

Congrats! I aspire to be you! I learned that I equate hunger pangs with stomachache with "something is wrong!" and it's a lot of mental work to let myself feel hungry. Honestly, right now my goal is to get under 200 lbs. I lost 35, gained back 5, and have been stuck between 217-222 for months.

OP, I am 63yo and experiencing the same happiness. For years I was obese, but I few months ago I crossed into overweight (per BMI charts) and now my BMI is 27.3, which is thrilling! I want to lose another 15-20 pounds to get into the normal BMI range and while I didn't used to believe it was possible, I do believe it now.

It is so much easier to move, choose clothing, everything. Such a great feeling.

Congratulations!
