I would do something easy to pick up and eat - like madeleines, shortbread, quick breads, donuts, mini muffins or cookies. If you want to make them more sophisticated, try different variants - espresso chip cookies, brown butter toffee muffins, cardamom coffee brownies, maple miso quick bread, etc.

I am an adult that would be so disappointed with basil bars for dessert!

I like a lemon bar but they can be tricky — sometimes the curd doesn’t set right.

I agree a bar cookie or everyone loves a brownie.

Cake balls are another idea but some people are grossed out by them.

If it’s fancy people the individual trifles would be adorable or you could probably also do ndovidual cobblers in jars as well.

If there are going to be kids there, I'd stick with brownies (everyone loves brownies).

But if it's adults, these basil lemon bars are excellent.
