These numbers sound high. And moving plumbing and electric and even removing walls would never add more than 5 or 10K to an overall kitchen cost. We routinely do full renovations for medium sized kitchens removing walls etc for under 60K if you are getting well made but inexpensive cabinetry and nice but not professional appliances. We are outside of Philadelphia so in a less expensive area than DC. But not that much difference. Read this blog.

This doesn’t sound right at all. I’m n a much higher COL area and adding under cabinet lights and overhead is not 10 K and plumbing when you are not doing relocating is not 10 K.

Refacing can get up to 45 if you are going for good quality door or more drawers and pull outs. If your contractor is just doing standard doors then you are getting ripped off.

This. Usually people downplay costs, but PP is insane if they think electrical for undercabinet lighting and recessed lights will be $10k. Undercabinet is low voltage and a one day job. Recessed lighting is also a one day job.

I was also surprised by that. Recess lights would cost at the most $300 each and $10K for under cabinet and recess sounds like overkill on the budget. We wanted to move a double walled oven and since it has a dedicated circuit, we were quoted 10K so we did not do it. We removed and replaced toilet and pedestal sink in powder room and were charged $800 for that. I doubt plumbing would cost 10K in a kitchen. Even if the OP changed the sink, garbage disposal and faucet to something high end, it would be what, maybe 3K-4K?

We did not change cabinets or countertops but were given an estimate for 25K for new cabinets and 6K for countertops.

Unless you have a ton of cabinets, that seems very high. I have a large kitchen, custom cabinets (brighton, quarter-sawn white oak doors, with a lot of upgrades and drawers) and all in for less than $40K. I did my project in spring 2022.

Agree. It would be more useful when talking cabinets to be more specific. Semi-custom cabinets can be more depending on materials and design.

1. Are the boxes MDF or plywood

2. Painted or stained?

3. What are the cabinets made of?

4. frameless or faceframe cabinets?

5. Full overlay, partial or inset?

This effects price tremendously so it would be helpful if people are more specific.
