The Model Y really blew me away when it came out four years ago but its styling and features are starting to look old/stale compared to other brands.
The key feature you want is access to the supercharger network.

Any news on when they are going to have something fresh?

IF you decide on a PHEV, I highly recommend the Volvo XC90 Recharge. We are getting 1700 miles on a tank of gas.

PP here--I also drove a Genesis EV and really liked it, an audi, and the Ioniq 5 (definitely felt cheap in comparison). Went with the Volvo bc it was a 2023 with a 10K discount at the time, audi and Genesis being more than I wanted to spend.

I like my Volvo C40 (came from a minivan once kids left house) but it would probably be a little on the small side for those with smaller kids and more stuff. My only complaints with the Volvo are some weird electronic issues like sometimes the phone doesn't connect easily if my husband drove it one day and then I drive it the next. I feel like these sorts of small issues will be hammered out over the next few years with software updates.

I love my ID.4 Pro S. I use it to commute from close-in MD to downtown DC. It's also really roomy inside, so your family of four plus luggage could take a trip in it.

Our neighbors got a Lyriq and its a really nice looking EV. Interior looks expensive. Much better appointed than a Tesla.

OP here. It may be weird, but I don't care. We already have an old minivan, so I'm set for big hauls. I just need something big enough to fit the family of four in for shorter trips if I need to, but that will also work as a commuter car.


I'd consider the Bolt EUV (the bigger Bolt). Are you open to a PHEV? The Toyota Prius Prime is a nice looking sedan, and depending on how long your commute is, you might be on battery power the whole way.
