Another vote for Vinson Hall (in McLean VA, so close to both MD and DC) if your parent(s) qualify. My mom is a new person after having moved in there 1.5 years ago. My only regret is not finding it and moving her sooner (but covid etc.) It is a non-profit.

I think they are for profit but personally I don’t care as most nonprofit are shady.

Can you explain what you mean about nonprofit being shady? I've heard this a few times recently and would like to understand how you came to that conclusion?

My in-laws are there now and enjoying it. Mt friend’s MIL seems to be getting very good care at Asbury Village in Gaithersburg.

My parents are at Collington in Mitchelville/Bowie. They and we are overall happy with it. All CCRCs are under financial stress and it has resulted in things like less nice food and long waits for repairs.

The independent living at Collington is great. Really nice housing options and lots of community. You can hire your own services if you need care. The assisted living apartments are small, and the nursing and dementia units are safe and well staffed but the rooms aren’t lux - no in-room showers or baths, for example.

My parents have made dear friends who have supported each other through thick and thin, and that has been very precious.

My parents have been in a Brightview for a year now and they are happy. It's very safe (no steps, call buttons in the apartment), with plenty of opportunities to be social if they want. The food is fine, but not fabulous. The staff is very engaged and goes out of their way to be helpful. Go check out of a few locations because they all have different vibes, and keep in mind that rent will increase each this, this year it went up 6%.

The food is fine, but not fabulous. The staff is very engaged and goes out of their way to be helpful. Go check out of a few locations because they all have different vibes, and keep in mind that rent will increase each this, this year it went up 6%.

Ingleside at Rock Creek
Vinson Hall (only for retired civil servants and military)
Goodwin House

Search CARFE for accreditation reports.
Stay with non profits only.
I hear good things about Maplewood Park Place in Bethesda

Brooke grove is a big corporation. Not a small retirement home.
