It is worth it, but try to look ahead at the cruise schedule (which is posted online) or go before or after they descend.

Walking around the wall that surrounds the city provides amazingly views, but take your time. It is a lot of walking/climbing. A walking tour from a local is worth considering because the history is fascinating.

^ I should have added - on Hvar, you can make a reservation for a half or full day at a beach club walking distance to the ferry drop off. Because the shore is rocky, this gives easy access off platforms into the sea, along with lounge chairs and food/beverage service. Beach Club Hvar is very nice but there are several options.

We used a private driver for a day trip to Plitvices National Park (with a stop for lunch after hiking in the park to see the waterfalls) and to take us to Dubrovnik (I would not do this as a day trip). I would highly recommend taking a ferry to Hvar for a day if you will be there in summer. For a private guide to see the Diocletian’s palace and Split, we just found one through GetYourGuide or something similar a day or two before. That was definitely worth it, as we learned much more than we would have by simply walking around by ourselves.

We Ubered to/from Obojena from our AirBnB near Marjan Hills. Later in the trip, we were staying near Bacvice so we walked to that beach.

There are cabs but we used Uber or walked mostly. If your base is the resort, I imagine they would have a shuttle to drop you into a more central area of Split and you can walk around from there.

No specific bakery recommendations ... i would walk in and check out the goods and only bought when I liked the options.
