My kids missed out. Covid years.

Thanks for the good tip about packing clothes that can be thrown away.

My child went a couple of years ago and said the mud part of the trip was the worst! The smell was revolting and everyone was dry heaving before getting in. My child said all the kids afterwards just threw away their clothes (bc of stains and smell) and had to rinse off their bodies with a random bucket of cold water before getting onto the school bus.

OP here. It’s 3 nights. My kid is telling me that clothing and shoes are likely to get super dirty. kids need to bring everything: sheets, blankets, pillows, 4 pairs of shoes, 5+ trash bags etc.

Do they provide financial aid to buy shoes? Do they really recommend 4 pairs of shoes instead of one pair of shoes and one pair of rain boots?

Why 4 packs of shoes? How dirty could that be? Is this outdoor adventure or survival theme camp? No shower?

Here's a picture from the Magnet website that explains how they get so dirty. The description of the trip says, "Sophomores can also look forward to the overnight trip to Wallops Island in Virginia. Students are divided into groups and do many science related activities - including sieving and sifting, identifying organisms that live near dunes, and learning about the marsh environment. The best part of Wallops is going in the mud!"

I don't know anything about this trip specifically ... but if it's Wallops Island, take bug spray!!!!! I have never seen so many mosquitos.
