Op here. Petrovsky was incredibly manipulative and self centered. He was also realistic, in a way. Relationship is all about him, what he wants to take from it, and only as much as he’s willing to give to it. He was also a gaslighter - “I told you this was me all along” type thing, when he coerced Carrie to give up her life in NY to be his groupie in Paris. He was so ick. My least favorite of carries boyfriends.
Another poster is right that Carrie does have terrible taste in men. I still like Berger best.
