I think its been a while you asked the question. I have just gone through an ivf cycle. I'm 41.5 years old. My amh is really low .20. Fsh was ok, 6.8. My doctor didn't think there'd be anything to freeze. He was telling me that if I had 5 embryos, he'd transfer all on day 2. But he really was thinking there would be 1 good embryo, if that.

He collected 13 oocytes, and 9 were mature. Only one didn't fertilise, all 8 fertilized, grade a. We transferred on day 3. He said I should transfer 4, but I decided 3. I'd transfer only 2, but my doc kept saying the chances of multiples at my age were rare. I haven't had my blood test, yet. I'll take it in 3 days, but I am pregnant. I was trying to test the trigger out obsessively keeping record of everything, Using 3 different brands of tests. The pregnancy tests never read negative. They faded faint towards 3 days after day 3 post transfer, and then on day 4, the tests disagreed, two showed negative, one showed really faint positive so I bought a first response test, and it, too read positive. Since then the line is getting darker and darker.

I hope this gives you a bit of hope. Even when amh is showing really poor reserves, it isn't that significant, sometimes. Your body may still produce good eggs, and really you need only one.

I'm dealing with severe mood swings right now, but I am thankful. And I hope it will be a healthy pregnancy, and a healthy baby. I wish all 40+ ladies to have good cycles and happy pregnancies.

I was on micro dose lupron (10iu) twice a day, 450 iU gonalf, and 150 iU menopur. Half an hour before I did my trigger shot, I also was given 450 iU of booster gonal f.

For the ladies who are 42 and older and got pregnant with their own eggs, where did you go? which doctor did you see and what is it that you think have made your IUI/IVF successful? Thank you for any hope you might give me. It is what I need right now. I had my son naturally 4 years ago. I am 42 and would love to have a second child with my own eggs. Thank you!

Wondering (slightly off topic but related) when you say you were low risk, are pregnancies over 40 and IVF automatically considered high risk or do I have hope of a somewhat normal course (yes, 41.5 and IVF success round 1 after many IUI's - best of wishes). Thanks.

Should add also that I wasn't a candidate for amnio or CVS because my risk turned out to be very low.

friend got pregnant at 46 naturally at home. miscarried after CVS, a procedure she thinks is responible for the loss.

I am 44 and got preg after several rounds of IVF with my own eggs.

I did - IUI at 41 1/2 (after 3 miscarriages). Have a precious baby on my lap right now!

There are lots of reasons why donor eggs are less than desirable. It's more money, for example. And people who are going throught the process of IVF clearly want a child genetically related to them. If thhey didn't care about that at all, they would be spending time and money on adoption, rather than on getting pregnant--I know, some wouldn't qualify for adoption, but many would, but are focusing on creating a genetic child.

I also go pregnant with clomid and iui at age 41 and delivered a healthy little girl at 42. I did lose one when I was 40 after 7 wks on my first pregnancy, also via iui and clomid. In total I had five rounds of clomid/iui. I would love to have another, but with my age I'm thankful for this gift of my little one.

Why wouldn't you want donor eggs??

OP here. Thought you might like to know that after giving up on ART, I got pregnant on my own and delivered a healthy baby girl at 42. Good luck to everyone still trying and don't lose hope!
