Yeah, didn't you all see the recent news story about the dad who drugged the tweens? One was able to text her mom for help/come get them.
Yup, until that story I probably wouldn’t have blinked at a parent saying phones will be put away/taken at midnight or whatever. But now it would be a hard pass from me if a parent tried to mandate taking my kid’s phone at a sleepover.
Yet the odds of that happening are slim to none and the odds of them doing something idiotic on the phones are pretty high.
Yeah, but I’m not taking the chance in the event my kid needs me when they are staying somewhere other than my home. Besides, kids who have phones can be idiotic on them at any time not just sleepovers.

Some kids like to text their parents. Good night and we’re still getting nervous even at that age and may want to discreetly tell her parents they want to go home. That being said, obviously, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking the phones away so no shenanigans happen, but sometimes important just to think about the situation holistically
Ah, so this is why kids bring extra old phones to these parties- so one is burner to “turn in”!
So lame.
To take phones? Agree.
You're hilarious. No.
It's lame if kids need phones to not be bored and are so addicted that they need to bring a spare.

Make sure they and their parents know this ahead of time so there is no balking.
You could decorate cupcakes as an activity… premade the cupcakes and leave them out frosting and assorted toppings. They’ll love all the sugar.
I suggested taking them
At midnight. If they’re bored they can go to sleep.
Kids will get super-bored without their cell phones.
