Recovery is longer than I thought it would be even though it's robotic surgery with the small incisions.

If it’s negative in the flash biopsy, will they still remove your ovaries?

I read on another thread you were scheduled for a total hysterectomy and oophorectomy in May.

Keep us updated when you can, we're thinking about you!

OP here with mainly good-ish updates:

-I did get the MRI report. It was scary. ORADS 4 (5 is the worst) and suspected malignancy;
-but, saw my regular GYN after that and she somewhat disagreed and made me feel better. This cyst has not gotten bigger since it was spotted during a CT scan for my liver (totally different issue) like a year ago. So that makes it less likely to be malignant. Also was able to review my entire history with her, including a uterine artery embolization done in 2011, where I had several fibroids. She said she's not totally convinced this is my ovary but might be a pedunculated fibroid that has grown over the years (lots of other details about this, but it's really long);
-I'm seeing GYN oncologist next week. I still expect to have surgery.

I feel better, but I think mentally I also want to feel better. We will see how it all goes next week.

Test results aren’t being held any longer - it’s been that way for a couple of years now.

I am sorry, OP.

For MRI, lab, and other test result access, are you not able to access the results directly through the lab or imaging center? If you have accounts, say with Hopkins Imaging or LabCorp, you should be able to get your results at the same time they are send to the ordering physician.

Anonymous wrote:OP with an update - my Dr. called this evening. She's really pretty attentive in general. I wasn't surprised by what she told me - "suspicious for cancer." And my understanding is that I won't have a full picture of what I am dealing with until surgery and pathology. I'm trying to hold it together but I'm very scared.

If anyone else has dealt with this - how quickly did they schedule your surgery?

I forgot to ask her to put the results in MyChart, but sent a note to her and I am sure they will.

I used to complain that I have too many different portal login accounts, but you should be able to access the results from wherever you got the MRI test done. I'm trying to make sure that most of my blood tests/scans etc are done by places using MyChart, but I can access results from other portal systems too.

As you're going through this, I'd suggest printing all relevant test results and keeping them in a folder that you can carry to different appointments, especially if you need to see people outside of the MyChart system.

Anonymous wrote:Once when I was really worried about test results and didn’t feel like I could wait, I called the office and explained just that. I got a call from my doctor soon after. They are human. As long as there is a fairly legitimate reason to be concerned and you don’t do that all the time, I think it’s ok. Hugs, OP.

+1. Tell them you will be available all day.

Will your Gyn perform the surgery or refer to an onco gyn? Maybe you could go with whoever can get it scheduled sooner? The surgery itself and recovery is pretty easy, but I am sure you want it done as quickly as possible. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this, sending you good thoughts.
