Especially under 35. Their salaries get larger and a lot of jobs have room for promotions. It’s a good salary for early 30’s.

In the DMV too. Average salary is about $60K. Look it all the local government workers, federal employees. It would be impossible that everyone is making $400,000 / year. OP don't be so naïve and believe people in DCUM bragging about making over 100k, it is very normal to make 80k or less as a 30 yr. old.
If you're making less than that, then time to update your resume and start looking for better opportunities else where...
