I don't think it's a troll - I know of a kid with near perfect scores and straight 4's but lousy HOPE who got rejected. It makes zero sense.

I just received my kid packet
I surprised that report card for first grade is included (This was our first year in US )don’t know if this info could help us on appeal

Hope score 1 almost always , 6 often , 4 sometimes <<< really surprised how bad are the scores

My child is in, His iready are above 95% with great cogat / nnat scores.

But his HOPE score was 2 often, 4 sometimes, 4 rarely and 1 never. I was raging mad when I got his package back in March, luckily he got in so I don't need to talk to his teacher about it.

Thank you very much for this! My kid has 158 NNAT 152 cogat 99% 97% iready but got rejected. I just got the HOpe score 3 offen and 8 sometimes. I am so mad. I guess there is nothing I can do other than prepare more work sample to appeal

Not sure why they would not accept this kid. What pyramid? None of that subjective HOPE stuff should matter with scores that good AND demonstrated achievement via iReady. They should do an analysis, which will show a lot of inconsistency in these decisions.

Going to be honest, I'm wondering if there's a troll going around trying to stir the pot by posting insane rejections. I've not seen quite anything like this before and I don't think the committee suddenly changed everything about the kids they accept. The current changes date back a few years after all.

Our aart teacher said scores are a minimum factor in the evaluating process about 1/5

Did you ask what the remaining 4 factors were?

Iready (for winter)
HOPE
Nnat
Cogat
Report card (grade 1 , grade 2)
This is the all packet parts !

Work samples reflecting nine strategic thought processes. My child's school work sample were specifically aimed at that.

Even if we assume there are 6 equally weighted components, this kid got practically perfect NNAT, COgAT, and iReady according to the post. NNAT & CogAT scores in the 150's are pretty rare, prepped or not. How bad can the report cards be? Parents really need to ask for those packets BEFORE the decisions come out in order to be prepared for "HOPE" and bad work samples.

My kids is IN with 150 NNAT 151 cogat, 98% math 96% english iready. Kid is quiet in class, so we never relied on subjective factors in HOPE, and instead focused on their math and reading over last couple of years, and for one week used workbooks for nnat/cogat.

Why is it so hard for you to believe that your child's HOPE score isn't an accurate reflection of his behavior in class?

DP. My kid got rejected with a low GBRS in 2nd. The next year in 3rd, the kid had a perfect GBRS and was admitted. The kid did not have some sort of cognitive breakthrough or drastic change in behavior between 2nd and 3rd grade.

Same for my kid .
I’m thinking of WISC
