That's not what the Gadsen flag means in Virginia and south. Everyone I know who flies it or has a VA teaparty license plate is now a MAGA. I can imagine it means something different in New England, but most of us don't live in New England, we live in the DC metro.

I mean, the Gadsden Flag is about as political as it gets, going back to the founding of our country.

I do agree it's kind of lost its meaning. And its use to signal hostility to fellow citizens is beyond the pale.


It's not used to signal hostility. It's literally about limits on government power. If anything, it fits perfectly into a leftist oppressor/oppressed narrative except for the fact that it calls for people to be independent in thought and action.


This exactly. What has happened to the left? They’ve been co-opted by some force yet to be revealed. You all used to stand for something!

It started out as less politically partisan but is now hyper partisan beginning with the tea party and, like the tea party, was put on steroids with MAGA. Especially among the militia and wannabe militia set who think MAGA is somehow going to lead to a more “free” society. These whack jobs will hijack sic semper tyrannis next.

And, yes, for everyone I know who has these plates, they are political.

Op here. Clearly I don’t have one myself 😳🤣 but as I mentioned, I keep seeing them around in far greater numbers than I ever did before. I knew there was some political connection but now that the drivers seem more diverse. Not that diversity means you vote one way or another.
