Do what you want but in soccer culture this really isn't a thing. Instead do hat, gloves, neck gaiter, long sleeved layer and training pants.

My kid is almost 14 and wouldn't have a clue which leggings he likes under his shorts. He has a few pairs of under armour that we got on sale, but we also have a champion pair that is just as good.

Also not judging but I am surprised that a player this age 1)would want to wear them and 2)doesn't already have a brand he likes.

My 9 year old refuses to wear anything on his legs. He will wear top layers to stay warm. If its practice and its really cold he might wear sweatpants that are baggy and fit over his shinguards but ive only seem him do that in off season winter practices when its like 30 degrees.

Any brand that fits should be fine. Start with the cheapest.
