That is correct - it replaces one year of world history. So my kid is taking

9th grade - honors world history

I would keep AP World if you have a college bound kid.

AP world is more rigorous, and in my opinion, the best class in FCPS to transition your kid into a more mature level of thinking, writing, and studying. I have had 3 kids go through AP World. It is a challenging class, but one I would not recommend skipping if your kid is a strong, college bound student. I would definitely choose AP World over AP Hunan Geography if you feel it is one or the other.

Maybe you can but I wouldn't. It's very different content. AP Human Geo is more an elective and doesn't cover core world history content. Just an interesting and easier extra AP class if your kid is looking for one. Ours took it 9th because it was the only AP allowed in 9th grade. They don't allow it any more at our school.

AP human geography would then take your 10th grade elective slot

What makes it more difficult specifically? My kid is also considering taking it. She likes reading and papers. Are you talking about a lot of that or really difficult tests? How does the work load compare to other classes?

Mine took in 9th grade a few years ago. It was one of his favorite classes of all time. It is a good intro to AP and not as hard as AP US History or AP World History. Required more work and more critical thinking than Honors World History though.

Is it more difficult than the Honors World History class? A little more difficult? A lot more difficult?

My kids took AP Human Geo in 9th, it was a good intro to an AP class. “Apple HuG” it’s called.
