What I mean is it is wildly low compared to all the other VA public colleges. The others’ prices for low income are low but not rock bottom.
If you look at what many other colleges are doing, particularly privates, it is very much in line.
But that’s private funding decision to make college virtually free for some kids vs a tax payer funded school deciding to do that - in stark contrast to all the other public ones.

I thought CSS Profile asking for assets and using about 5.6% in the calculation

Admin is very aggressively trying to increase the Pell Grant and lower income population at the school.
I read on another board that low number of Pell grant recipients contributed to W&M's decline in rankings. Kind of strange that the # of Pell grant recipients should have such a signficant impact on a school's ranking.
Yes it is absurdly stupid that the # of Pell grant kids is counted in the rankings but something actually relevant to all kids’ classroom experience like class size is no longer counted.

I wonder what "low income" even means these days. I saw an article (I can't remember where b/c someone will ask me to cite the source) that stated that middle class requires a family to make over $250k. So would that mean that all families making less than $250k are not even middle class?

Yes, W&M meets need. But, W&M uses the CSS Profile, not just the FAFSA info so they may have a different calculation of "need" than your SAIC.
