I have been told that you finally stop worrying about them when they reach their 40's.

Mine are both still under 5 but I think I noticed it getting easier around 6 months, a lot easier around 1, another hard in a different way phase around 15-18 months, and then both much much easier closer to 2 when they could really start expressing themselves with words and physically needed less and less from me.

Op, it got better when I returned to work, so 3rd month.

Then follow by 6th month, and by 12 months I was ready to try for another one, LOL

4th month is a good time to sleep train, DH got a book called The Happiest Baby on the Block and something about the five S's

The five S's are swaddling, side or stomach position, shushing, swinging, and sucking. These five things can help re-create the environment of the womb, which can be comforting for your baby. There's no sweeter sight than a sleeping baby, but getting your baby to sleep can turn into a daily struggle.

I remember thinking, at 6 months, this is still hard... when will it get easier? And it happened right around that time. I'd say sometime between 6-9 months. Hang on, you're in the home stretch.

I thought it got better each time around 6 weeks. And then 15m-36m was so hard. I hate the willful toddler stage. I loved just nursing all day and watching television. It’s something you only get with your first born. By the time two and three come along, you’re moving nonstop and the chores are out of control.

Once we sleep trained at 16 weeks it was smooth sailing.

My teenagers (15 and 13) are WAY easier than when they were babies, in every way. I'd never go back!
