We recently used it upon returning from Spring Break. It took about 5 minutes in line vs the looks of the endlessly long regular line.
I just learned about this. I am traveling in a few months and thought I was out of luck. My two sisters both have GE. Hopefully I can use this at IAD.
Yes it's an option at Dulles. Just follow the signs for Mobile Passport when you get to the passport control area. Make sure you download the app now, and up to you, but you can add your info now so you can save time.when on the plane. Then all you have to just before arrival is take a selfie and answer the couple of questions.
So if the only airport we return to from abroad is IAD, does that mean GE wouldn’t give us much benefit over Mobile Passport? Does GE help with anything else?

So why would anyone still be doing GE?

Yes, if you sign your kid up for GE, they will get their own Known Traveler Numbers. You put that in the reservation, and that makes sure you get PreCheck. Kids under 18 would get it anyway if on the same reservation as parents who have PreCheck.
Under 12, not 18.
It changed last year to cover kids 13-17 if they are on the same reservation as a parent.
