I’m Canadian. It’s fine. Euros are fine too. Canada is very multicultural, especially in the big cities and everyone will appreciate your tip!
But far more inconvenient for them to have to change. Tipping in local currency always preferred.
Th US dollar is currently 1.35 CAD so if you just pretend they are equal while tipping (say, leave US$5 on a CA$25 bill), there will be no inconvenience!

On the way back from Canada last year, we stopped for lunch in a town not too far from the border in Upstate NY. We had some leftover Canadian dollars and asked the waitress -- she was planning a trip to Canada the next weekend and was happy to get them.
