I'm an artsy woman and knew and know artsy guys. We never hit it off. I think many don't like artsy women. They like scince-y types themselves.

My husband is a mix of both and I was so happy to meet him. He knows about many things, has many talents and appreciates my talents.

I’ve dated both, married to an electrical engineer by education, software engineer in career.

Overall I think sciency men are better. Artists, while creative, unconventional, and fun, are also overly emotional and lack groundedness. This is a generalization based on anecdata but that’s my experience.

That said, my sciency husband is sensitive and attuned to his emotions. I could imagine some sciency types could be overly logical/analytical and therefore joyless.

Balance is key.

According to a different thread here, people in architecture/engineering professions have the lowest divorce rates. Is that a plus?

neither.

well rounded people make the best spouses. they have their heads on straight and priorities are family first, and can balance that with their work and interests. not myopic on art or work or their looks.

I’ll play though this is so individual.

Artists make less $ but higher EQ and better in bed. More sensitive and emotional and less stable, but will listen to your emotions and make you feel like a woman.

Scientists make more but lower EQ. Less sensitive but more stable. Emotions are a hindrance and women are confusing. I think there’s also a difference in what type of science. And not sure if we’re counting computer sciences, they are even more extreme.

Currently dating an artist/biologist. Ex was a computer scientist. Have dated many musicians and computer scientists.

I am married to an engineer. He has a very chill personality and doesn’t get rattled easily. Very methodical and conscientious. I myself am a free spirit, and he balances me out. I think I help him lighten up a bit, too.

I dated artsy and literary types and they were less calm, more tempestuous, and would get stumped by life logistics more often. They did read more novels and had an emotional vocabulary and we had more emotional conversations. But better husband -- engineers.

Do you know what we like to talk about? Classical music, books, geopolitical issues and emergent technology.

Many people defy categorization, have varied interests and you cannot put them in little niches solely based on their profession.

My DH is physicist and also a musician, loves theater, and loves going to art museums too. What a black-and-white, binary question OP is asking. Why the insistence on either/or?

1) Art and science are not mutually exclusive.

2) "Better" is subjective. I adore my husband but not every woman would be happy with him.

Better humans make better husbands, their major, degree or field or hobbies are irrelevant.
