Bumping this. We visited yesterday and my kid loved the campus. I’m wondering if anyone has recent experience with it.
While we think it could be a good fit, I have reservations about the lack of diversity. Kid is multiracial.

We just toured this past week (spring break)--there were at least 3 others on our tour from Northern Va.

Students are required to live on campus for 2 years. 15 min drive to the beach or take the city bus almost all the way there (can't cross city/county line).

We liked it--but my kid is more of a 3.5 kid who wants palm trees.

Beach 🏖️

Chillaxing

Good looking students

Not too far from dc

Smart kid to put one of these options on the list

My parents live in Wilmington. UNCW is in the middle of the "city" of Wilmington, across from retail shopping. While it's definitely within a short drive to the beach, it's not that close to the beach, so it's not as though students walk from class to the beach.

It's a fairly small campus, at least when compared to many other universities, such as UMD, VT, JMU, etc.

I do think there is a suitcase school aspect to it and a large percentage of students live off-campus after first year. Might be a little tough for an OOS student with no ties to NC.

That was exactly our thinking. My DD has no ties to NC. I think it would have been rough.

Grew up in NC and went to college there. It’s a bit dated now but at the time, UNC-W had a rep as a party school for undergrad. The nursing program was said to be very good.
