The rule for SFL was that the coaches have to confer prior to the game. Its not like travel where all the players have another colored, numbered jersey or the coaches have pinnies for them to put on. Rec leagues are super cheap with providing practice equipment. Our rec league only gives coaches half the number of pinnies as the team total, so coaches don't have a set of pinnies for the entire team to do this. They will have 8 if the team has 16 players. Some rec leagues don't give coaches any equipment at all. That's why coaches are required to agree on uniforms prior to the game. Some rec leagues give their teams one jersey included in the fee. Some rec leagues tell players to buy or make their own numbered jerseys in two different colors. So some teams have two sets of numbered shirts, and some teams just have one.

my kids' SFL team has two sets of jerseys. I can only think of one club that has very unique coloring that doesn't have a second set

That's why some of these expensive rec league fees irritate people. As the dad whose high schooler was practicing in dog park sh!t asked in that other thread, where does all the money go if they can't even provide a cheap game ball and some pinnies? $200 x 16 players.....

Ha, where do the pennies come from? The sky? Our rec league didn't even give coaches a game ball.

Exactly! How are we suppose to communicate with the opposing teams? It was an obvious oversight by ncsl, probably because they could care less about the rec teams. Just looking to raid the rec teams over to travel. Money grab much?

Just adding our team to the list of teams contacting the league and refusing to go to Fredericksburg.

This is not entirely the case, you're just not seeing it. From the home page, hover on Recreational and then drop down to "Schedules and Results". You can pick the division your team is in and see all the teams in the division as well as the weekly schedule for the whole division and the scores once matches are played. You will need to scroll down the page though, since the travel league is listed first. Not a big issue, I don't suppose.

I'm sure they have the ability to have the coaches' names appear too, on each team's own schedule page. The area with a blank box and then team home/ away colors is where that sort of thing goes on the travel page. It looks like some clubs used the coach's name in the team name (I am looking at U16 girls) but not all of them did that. I'm not sure why it matters, but if this is something important to the former SFL teams then just ask your club rep to ask NCSL to require it. They will be happy to do things that improve the experience for the former SFL teams. If you're not sure of your club rep, you can find it by hovering over Recreational on the main page again, then clicking Club Contacts. Every club's are shown I think.

As a long-time NCSL club rep, I find them to be incredibly helpful and very willing to adapt to make things better for the kids and coaches. Remember that they have not hosted SFL teams before so they may not know everything you all would like to see, but if you reach out to them I think you'll find them very willing to make changes to improve things. If team snap is to be believed, we're already looking at a forfeit. No one signed up for rec to drive an hour and a half to a game

The site is lacking compared to the SFL site. No coaches listed, no list of participating teams and they took forever to release the schedule with incomplete information. So glad our rec league is now an after thought to the travel teams.
