Ok well that’s good. I hope you have some sort of atmosphere at work where it was assumed it was ok for you to go get another lunch,

I spent my 20s and 30s being a doormat, so yes, I can see it happening. You're caught off-guard and can't think of a polite phrase or polite option to get out of your predicament, so you end up saying yes to authority, just because it's the easy way out in the moment. And then you stew.

So glad I'm not like this anymore. Trying to teach my kids to think on their feet.

Did she pay you back?

That is weird and she shouldn’t have done that.

Now if she had said, oh man I don’t have time to get lunch. Could I buy that from you and then you can go take an extra half hour for lunch and buy yourself a new one, my treat? And then gave you a twenty or whatever that would be one thing

But still weird

Yes, this. I know it's a sport here to bash the OP, and I too thought OP should have said no, but this behavior from a boss would be completely inappropriate. If this post were real, I would be wondering if this was just a way of shaming an employee for taking lunch and implying she should work through it.

What do you do for a living? This is a bizarre post. I call troll. Did you just watch "I think you should leave" with Tim Robinson?
