I knew a lovely Juliette (an au pair) and haven’t met an American one. I went to school with a Juliana (who went by Jules) who was probably fine generally but not very nice to me so I don’t like that name.

I have always loved Juliet.

Julianna reminds me of The Chicks song.

Totally biased because I know Juliets and both are super smart and literate, so I would choose that name.

These are both pretty names. I'll give Juliet the edge because I've never met one in real life.

My kids are upper teens, and there have been several Julianna/Julianas in their schools. Most go by the full name, but some go by Juli.

I wouldn’t know how to pronounce the second half of Julianna. I’ve heard it pronounced two ways.

Juliet is awful and association with play is a negative. I have known a million Julies and Julias (born 1960s). Julianne/a is better, especially with a one-syllable last name. More unusual, sounds pretty.

Julianna would be nice with a one syllable last name. Go for it!

I know a toddler Juliana. Her parents call her Juli.

Julianna is ugly to me. I know two Juliets and neither goes by Julie.

I prefer Julianna and know two of them, both of whom go by Julianna (no nicknames). One is in 4th grade, and the other is in college. Fwiw, I have a Julia and no one has shortened it to Julie or Jules (although I like the latter, not the former). She had a Julianne in her preschool class, but we haven't run across another since then.

OP here. Thanks for the feedback! Our last name is common and monosyllabic so we don't want an overly common first name.

How many Juliets and Juliannas do you all know? And does any of them go by nicknames?

It’s completely dependent upon your last name. Are you like the Watersons? The Smiths? The Baxter-Bumbersnatches? The Gomez’s? Each one would go better or worse with Juliet or Julianna.

Also - good luck commanding your child to use a particular nickname. My child cycled through 3 versions of her first name before settling on her middle name (for now) at age 10.
