My DH is, mercifully, capable. We still squabble about chores with both of us liking certain things a certain way. But, I'm good at tuning out the "you didn't load the dishwasher right" comments. He's good at tuning out my "that's not how you fold a tshirt" comments.

Honestly, as long as he's pulling his weight, then if he wants to take his time to rearrange the dishwasher before running, he can knock himself out. And micromanaging me (and vice versa) is not going to make me do it differently when my way gets the dishes just as clean.

Don't strategize. Just make sure he does it from the beginning of the relationship. Even if he's really busy and stressed out and you're much better at clearing the table, have him take a stab at it. Don't fix it until the next day.


My overall point is that if you let go either

1. He'll figure it out

or

2. You'll feel more appreciated in the long run when he has a better idea of what you're handling.

(Or 3, he would be institutionalized without you, but most high earners don't fit that description)
