Anonymous wrote:Well good for you. For us, it was the first ID session with a team my son is interested in playing for. My son was the only one who the coach approached. It was also later found out that the coach had heard about my son from other coaches and parents from the team, thus he was paying more and closer attention to my son during the ID session.
We are not going to all the ID session around the area to just go. We are very selective with the club and mindful of who the coach will be for the next season.
Calm down. ROFL you're new here, aren't you? Sorry you are butthurt someone burst your bubble on how IDing actually works. Best of luck to you and hopefully you're actually making the best informed decision for your special little guy.

If the player is showing up to an ID session, its safe to say that player will be going to several other ID sessions. A good coach will not try to miss out on the opportunity to pick up a good player.
Yes, it was my situation and opinion. Just because they like you doesn't mean it's a good team or good for your kid. You go to ID sessions to try out teams and coaches just as much as they try your kid out. I don't understand why people get caught up in the warm and fuzzies of attention from a coach. That's how you end up IDing all over again over winter break.

This. The amount of players I know that walk onto teams after tryouts without spring up for them is frustrating. Tryouts are just for show.
I don't know many that get same day offers, but it does happen if coaches A. Love your player or B. Desperately want to tie down players because they know they are losing current ones. C. Building something new and wanted to lock down best 3-5 players available too

Same. But it was easy to see it was because my kid was probably too good for that team with how excited the coach was so we gave no commitment while we shop around more. PP, most good coaches/teams don't give offers same day because they aren't desperate and are looking and numerous kids.
